Sitting On A File Cabinet, Naked With A Gun

Sitting on a File Cabinet, Naked, With a Gun offers an engaging, entertaining insider’s look into the offices of some of the most powerful men and women in Silicon Valley, as executive assistants share experiences about their CEOs and the lessons learned. Currently, over eight million administrative professionals help over four million executives and managers schedule meetings, decide who gets the CEO’s ear, negotiate contracts, are privy to sensitive information, have influence with people inside and outside the organization, manage Board-related material and meetings, lead and mentor administrative teams, select airlines, hotels, car rentals, and more.

They also regularly brief the CEO to help prepare for meetings, events, travel, and most definitely impact the productivity of the business. CEO assistants are historically a “secret weapon” – typically not even recognized for their power to influence others and often written-off as “just a secretary.” Beware of making that outdated mistake. Today, the executive assistant to a CEO wields a huge amount of power and is engaged in all aspects of the business. They continually seek out ways to make their jobs more efficient, more enriching, and more empowering. They leverage their CEOs’ highly valuable time to enable them to devote their total energies to making the major strategic decisions for their companies. Sitting on a File Cabinet, Naked, With a Gun is a book for anyone who has ever wondered about what goes on behind the closed doors of the executive suite, and how assistants use their resources, network, and common sense to make daily extraordinary decisions.

Entertaining and Enjoyable Read.
We used this book for a team-building book club exercise. Everyone on the team could relate to the funny stories and shared their own similar experiences. We liked it so much that we’re looking for another book by Linda for next quarter’s book club review.

A Fantastic Read!!!
I love this book!! I could NOT put it down. Authors Linda McFarland and Joanne Linden have done a fantastic job giving us a peek into the high-pressure lives of successful CEO Assistants, and have done so with much heart and humor. As a former Celebrity Personal Assistant in Hollywood, I related to many of the circumstances the Executive Assistants found themselves in, and I laughed and cried along with them as I read their stories. From cover to cover, “Sitting on a File Cabinet, Naked …” is engaging, informative and entertaining. It’s not just an excellent training tool for assistants everywhere; it makes for a super enjoyable read for anyone lucky enough to find a copy of it in their hands. I highly recommend this book!!
